Purpose
MoreThanSports Coaching aims to create a safe, respectful, inclusive, and enjoyable environment where all children can learn, develop, and enjoy sport.
We encourage positive behaviour and mutual respect from children, staff, parents/carers, and visitors.
Expected Behaviour
Participants are expected to:
- Treat others respectfully
- Listen to coaches and staff
- Follow instructions
- Use appropriate language
- Respect equipment and facilities
- Include and encourage others
- Play fairly
Unacceptable Behaviour
Unacceptable behaviour includes:
- Bullying
- Physical aggression
- Verbal abuse
- Discrimination
- Racist, sexist, or discriminatory language
- Deliberate damage to property
- Unsafe behaviour
- Persistent disruption
Staff Responsibilities
Staff will:
- Act as positive role models
- Promote fairness and inclusion
- Address inappropriate behaviour consistently
- Use positive reinforcement where possible
- Maintain clear boundaries
Managing Behaviour
Where inappropriate behaviour occurs, staff may: 1. Give a verbal reminder 2. Issue a warning 3. Remove the child temporarily from the activity 4. Speak with parents/carers 5. Implement a behaviour support plan 6. Suspend or remove a participant in serious cases
The response will be proportionate to the behaviour.
Bullying
Bullying of any kind is not tolerated.
Reports of bullying will be:
- Taken seriously
- Investigated promptly
- Addressed fairly
- Recorded where appropriate
Positive Behaviour Strategies
We encourage:
- Praise and encouragement
- Teamwork
- Inclusion
- Leadership opportunities
- Clear routines and expectations
Parent/Carer Conduct
Parents/carers are expected to:
- Treat staff and children respectfully
- Raise concerns appropriately
- Support positive behaviour expectations
Aggressive or abusive behaviour toward staff or children will not be tolerated.

Serious Incidents
Serious incidents may result in:
- Immediate removal from activities
- Parent meetings
- Suspension
- Permanent exclusion
- Referral to external agencies where necessary
