Policy Statement

MoreThanSports Coaching is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

We aim to minimise risks and ensure activities are delivered safely at all times.

Responsibilities

Management Responsibilities

Management will:

  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Maintain appropriate insurance
  • Ensure staff training is completed
  • Provide suitable equipment
  • Review accidents and incidents

Staff Responsibilities

Staff must:

  • Follow health and safety procedures
  • Report hazards immediately
  • Supervise children appropriately
  • Use equipment safely
  • Record accidents and incidents

Risk Assessments

Risk assessments will be completed for:

  • Venues
  • Equipment
  • Activities
  • Holiday camp activities

Assessments will be reviewed regularly.

First Aid

  • At least one qualified first aider will be present during sessions.
  • First aid kits will be accessible.
  • All accidents and injuries will be recorded.
  • Parents/carers will be informed of significant injuries.

Emergency contact details must be available at every session.

Medical Information

Parents/carers must provide accurate medical information, including:

  • Allergies
  • Medical conditions
  • Medication requirements
  • Emergency procedures

Medication will only be administered with parental consent unless it is an emergency.

Equipment Safety

All equipment will:

  • Be checked regularly
  • Be suitable for age and activity
  • Be removed if damaged or unsafe

Fire Safety and Emergencies

Staff will:

  • Know emergency exits
  • Follow venue evacuation procedures
  • Keep registers for emergency headcounts
  • Contact emergency services where required

Hygiene

We will encourage:

  • Regular hand washing
  • Clean facilities and equipment
  • Safe food handling practices
  • Appropriate illness management

Children who are unwell may be unable to attend sessions.

Supervision Ratios

Appropriate supervision ratios will be maintained depending on:

  • Age of participants
  • Activity type
  • Venue requirements
  • Additional needs

Collection of Children

Children will only be released to:

  • Approved adults
  • Individuals authorised by parents/carers

Late collections incur charges as below:

Up to 10 minutes: £5

10-20 minutes: £10

20-30 minutes: £15

30-60 minutes: £25

+60 minutes: protocol will be followed and the local authorities will be notified.

Accident Reporting

All accidents, injuries, and near misses must be:

  • Recorded promptly
  • Reviewed where necessary
  • Reported to relevant authorities if legally required

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually.
